Crawford County offers so much to see and do, especially during the warmer months. These are our four favorite ways to spend a summer day in the Meadville, PA area.

Kenneth A. Beers Jr. Bicentennial Park

We love to spend the day at this historic park on the banks of French Creek in Meadville. You can explore a replica of a historic log cabin from the original settlement of the city in 1788 and picnic at the covered pavilion or on the spacious lawn. Kenneth A. Beers Jr. Bicentennial Park also has a boat launch for kayaks and canoes.

The park provides access to Ernst Trail, a 5-mile paved multi-use path that stretches from the Park Ave Plaza to Rt 19. Kenneth A. Beers Bicentennial Park is located at 42080 N French St.

Woodcock Lake Park

Operated by the Army Corps of Engineers, this Meadville campsite and lake offers a diverse array of recreational activities in a beautiful setting. You can camp for the weekend at a primitive tent site, play disc golf, or attend one of the many interpretative programs given by the park’s rangers. Woodcock Creek Lake is stocked with fish and features a boat launch for kayaking and canoeing. The park is located at 23050 Woodcock Lake Pk.

Meadville Market House

The outdoor farmers’ market at Meadville Market House will continue through September and October, every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Even when summer ends, you can still visit the historic 1870 indoor market, the oldest operating structure of its kind in the state. Meadville Market House features vendors who provide sustainable local produce, dairy, eggs, meat, eggs, coffee, tea, syrup, baked goods, and much more.

Meadville Market House is located at 910 Market St. Don’t forget to check the calendar for special events like Downtown Meadville First Friday on September 1 at 5 p.m.

Erie County Fair

Ride the Ferris wheel and try your hand at the ring toss at the Erie County Fair, just 45 minutes from Meadville in Wattsburg. This annual event will run from August 28 through September 2. The schedule is packed with everything from free concerts by performers like Jess Kellie Adams to baking contests to crown the best apple pie, chocolate cake, and angel food cake.

Gate admission to the Erie County Fair costs $10 and includes midway shows, rides, and parking. Entry is free for seniors, military members, and kids ages 5 and under. The fun takes place at 13993 State Hwy 8 and 89.
