Breast cancer is an illness that has affected families all around the world and McCandles Ford Meadville joined the fight by partnering with two exemplary local organizations throughout the month of October. The staff at your local car dealership in Meadville PA formed a triumvirate with the Meadville Medical Center’s Cancer Services at the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute and Pink Angels to raise awareness of breast cancer. Formed in 1992, the Meadville Medical Center (MMC) Foundation is the parent entity of the donation efforts at the hospital, and its primary objective is to advance the long-term health of the community by funding new services, equipment, and now among them, Breast Cancer Awareness Month with the McCandless family. Since its formation, the MMC Foundation has supported more than 30 critical endeavors, and each one has made a lasting impression. Pink Angels, a local charity initiative started in 2009, “supplies financial assistance for things that medical insurance doesn’t cover,” according to organization member Barb Walton from a regional newspaper article outlining their efforts. “It provides gas cards so patients can drive to Pittsburgh or Cleveland for treatments, and money for necessities such as groceries and childcare,” Walton continued.

Here at McCandless Ford Meadville, we donated $5 for every completed service order during the month of October, and a total of 530 service tickets were filled out at our dealership. Adding in the 574 service tickets completed by Bill McCandless Ford, the two dealerships raised a total of $5,520, plus another $418 in donations from friends and family, for a grand total of $5,938!

We believe that the MMC Foundation and Pink Angels are fighting an amazing battle against breast cancer and cancer in general, and we encourage our local community and customers to help further their philanthropic efforts. The funds raised this month by McCandless Ford Meadville will be dispersed evenly between these two fantastic alliances.
